Cynthia Cliff

• Cynthia grew up a tiny historic village in rural Virginia, surrounded by animals, gardens, and a large extended family—which provided her with a love of history, family, nature, and folklore. This upbringing fuels her optimistic, whimsical, and self-taught folk-art based style. She works traditionally using gouache as well as digitally and a blend of the two. She is a formally trained graphic designer which provides her with a keen eye for composition, imaginative color use and project professionalism.

  She began her professional illustration career in 2019 after living many other lives. She has authored and illustrated two books published by Prestel. Today, she resides just outside of Washington, D.C. and is represented by Andrea Brown Literary Agency.
